Plymstock School, celebrating its centenary this year, chose design, print and web specialists Matrix Creative to launch its new website and prospectus.
The new site – at www.plymstockschool.org.uk - also coincides with the school achieving academy status as part of the coalition government’s outstanding schools initiative.
The website features a ‘Head’s Blog’, integration with Twitter, a video of the school presented by students, a gallery of photos, a calendar of term dates and a ‘who’s who’ of all the staff.
The site also makes all school letters available and provides an events calendar of important dates such as those for reports and parents’ evenings.
Headteacher David Farmer says: “Making the right choice of school is one of the most difficult decisions facing a parent.
“That’s why we’re really pleased to have developed a new site and prospectus to help prospective students and their families get a feel for the school and what it is like to study here.
“The website will also help existing parents and students by improving communication.”
With nearly 1700 students aged 11-18 years, the co-educational comprehensive school has a long established record of academic and personal achievement and was classed as ‘Outstanding’ in its most recent Ofsted inspection.
Designated as a specialist Sports College, the school offers a wide choice of activities for the benefit of students and members of the local community.
Matrix Managing Director Glen Turner says: “We were delighted to work with Plymstock School and we admire the team there for wanting to be at the forefront of schools marketing. The new site has a really modern, clean design with impressive functionality – perfect for prospective students and their parents.”
Matrix Creative works with a number of clients in the education sector including City College Plymouth and Plymouth College of Art.
Rob Diment of Plymstock School says: “We just had our open evening and the website really helped draw in extra people from across the city. In fact it was our busiest Open Evening ever!!!”
